ISTANBUL (AA) – Türkiye saw 122,091 house sales in August, down by 1.1% on a yearly basis, the country's statistical authority revealed on Friday.
House sales totaled 797,418 units in the first eight-month period, down 15.5% versus the same period last year, Turkish Statistical Institute's data showed.
In August, Istanbul took the lion's share from house sales with 14.3% or 17,408 units, followed by the capital Ankara with 11,007 units, and the Aegean city of Izmir with 6,504 units.
Mortgaged house sales became 16,375 units in August, down by 26.1% on an annually basis.
In the country, 35,310 houses were sold for the first time.
In August alone, house sales to foreigners dropped by 42% to 3,058 units, while in the eight-month period, sales decreased by 43.6% to 25,134 units.
