SANAA, Yemen (AA) - Yemen's Houthi group said airstrike, allegedly carried out by American and British forces, killed two students in Yemen's southwestern province of Taiz, local media reported on Tuesday.

Houthi-affiliated Al-Masirah TV said the airstrike targeted a school in the Al-Janad area, which killed two female students and injured nine others.

Meanwhile, the local news outlet Yemen Future reported that the airstrike targeted an area near a girls' school, killing two students and wounding 14 others.

The report cited unnamed local sources, adding that panic ensued among the students, resulting in casualties as they attempted to flee the scene.

There has been no official comment from the US or UK regarding the reports.

The Houthis have been targeting Israeli-linked cargo ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden in solidarity with the Gaza Strip, which has been under an Israeli onslaught since last October.

Earlier this year, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced a multinational mission, Operation Prosperity Guardian, to counter Houthi attacks.
