RABAT (AA) – Two Moroccan jurists stated that the decision of International Court of Justice ordering Israel to take measures to prevent acts of genocide against the residents of the Gaza Strip demonstrates the justness of the Palestinian cause.
According to the Moroccan jurists Jamal Bahar and Malikah Boukhriss, who spoke to Anadolu on the sidelines of their participation in a solidarity rally for Gaza in the city of Marrakech.
Bahar stated that the decision of the International Court “indicates that the Palestinian cause is just and honorable, supported only by the honorable people.”
He added that the court's decision is “a strong signal for the continued defense of Palestine by the free people of the world, despite the support of Western countries for Israel and the dominance of the West over many forums and organizations, both human rights and political, around the world.
Bahar considered that the decision “gives credibility to the resistance and anyone who supports the Palestinian cause, and is a significant indicator that Israel is defeated."
For her part, Boukhriss praised “South Africa's step, which was behind the lawsuit against Israel.”
She said, "South Africa's step came after the significant killing suffered by civilians, especially women and children (in Gaza).”
Thousands of Moroccans participated in solidarity rallies in several cities of the kingdom, following Friday prayers, in support of Palestine and Gaza, which has been under intense Israeli bombardment for months, resulting in thousands of civilian casualties.
According to Anadolu correspondent, the participants in these rallies, organized by the Moroccan Non-Governmental Organization “Moroccan Commission for Advocating the Nation's Causes,” called for practical measures to stop the Israeli war on Gaza.
Among the cities where solidarity rallies took place were Marrakech, Tangier, Tetouan, Agadir, and El Jadida.
The International Court of Justice on Friday ordered Israel to take "all measures within its power" to prevent acts of genocide in Gaza but fell short of ordering a cease-fire.
The court also ordered Israel to take immediate and effective measures to enable the provision of urgently needed basic services and humanitarian assistance in the Gaza Strip.
South Africa brought a genocide case against Israel to the ICJ late last month and asked it to grant emergency measures to end the bloodshed in Gaza, where more than 26,000 Palestinians have been killed since Oct. 7.
