GENEVA (AA) - At least four irregular migrants trying to cross the English Channel died overnight, local media reported on Sunday.
Shortly after departing the French coast for the UK at around 2 a.m. local time (0100 GMT), dozens of irregular migrants attempted to board a vessel after their boat encountered trouble, the La Voix Du Nord newspaper said, citing the French Maritime Prefecture.
The French Maritime Prefecture said that another migrant, who was in critical condition, was rushed to a nearby hospital in Boulogne-sur-Mer.
Rescue efforts continued until the early morning hours with several boats and a French Navy helicopter.
