MOSCOW (AA) - Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan called US President-elect Donald Trump on Saturday to discuss the situation in the Southern Caucasus region, the premier’s press service said.

Pashinyan congratulated Trump on his recent election and briefed him on developments and the current state of US-Armenia relations, the Armenian government press service said in a statement.

In last week’s US presidential election, Republican candidate Donald Trump was victorious over Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris, securing 294 Electoral College votes, well over the 270 needed to win.

Trump’s inauguration – his second, following his term in 2017-2021 – is set for Jan. 20.
