NEW DELHI (AA) – India’s Defense Ministry said Wednesday it has a successful flight test of phase II of the Ballistic Missile Defense System.
A statement said the target missile was launched “mimicking adversary ballistic missile, which was detected by weapon system radars deployed on land and sea, "and activated the “AD Interceptor system.”
“The flight test fully met all the trial objectives validating a complete network centric warfare weapon system consisting of long-range sensors, low latency communication system … and advance Interceptor missiles,” said the ministry.
It noted the test has “demonstrated the nation’s indigenous capability to defend against the Ballistic Missiles of 5000 kilometres (3,106 miles) class.”
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said the test has “again demonstrated our ballistic missiles defense capability.”
