ANKARA - (AA) – India and Israel conducted a joint security drill in the capital New Delhi to counter "potential future threats."
The drill was held last week and saw involvement of various security agencies.
“Over day and night sessions held at the Israeli embassy in New Delhi, participants practised response strategies to potential terrorist incidents,” according to a statement by Israel's Embassy in New Delhi.
The joint drill came after a blast near the Israeli Embassy was reported in December last year.
A similar drill was held between the two sides in 2022.
“The exercise served as a platform for both Israeli and Indian forces to refine their coordination, communication and operational procedures, thereby strengthening their joint efforts against terrorism,” the statement said.
Ambassador of Israel to India, Naor Gilon termed the drill a "significant milestone."
“These collaborative exercises strengthen our nations' cooperation in security and defence and reinforce our shared commitment to global stability,” he said. “We remain steadfast in our determination to foster continued collaboration for a safer world.”
Of late, India and Israel which are “strategic partners” have widened security cooperation with each other.
