GREATER NOIDA, India (AA) - The UP International Trade Show will be a powerful tool for manufacturers and entrepreneurs in Uttar Pradesh to reach and gain influence in national and international markets, Indian President Droupadi Murmu said Thursday.
More than 2,000 manufacturers showcase their products at the fair, she said during the inauguration ceremony of the event in the northern city of Greater Noida.
Murmu noted that over 400 buyers from 66 countries are also participating in the fair.
The fair in Uttar Pradesh state will further national and international priorities in line with the objectives of G-20, she highlighted.
Apart from handicraft products, young entrepreneurs of the state, especially women, are also showcasing their products, she said.
The president noted that it is good that women's participation in entrepreneurship and their share in the labor force is increasing, but it needs to increase much more.
She also said that as a result of the simplification of investment opportunities, easing of doing business and accelerating of infrastructure development, Uttar Pradesh is now among the fastest growing state-level economies in the country.
Based on this excellent economic performance at the state level, the Indian economy is considered to be the fastest growing major economy in the world, she added.
Opening on Thursday, the five-day fair, described as the "biggest sourcing show" of Uttar Pradesh, has been jointly organized by the state government and India Exposition Mart platform.
