Indonesia's Veddriq Leonardo won gold Thursday at the inaugural Olympic men's speed in sport climbing at the Paris 2024 Olympics,
Leonardo, 27, climbed a 15-meter wall in 4.75 seconds ahead of China's Wu Peng in the big final at Le Bourget Climbing Venue. He was 0.02 second faster than Wu.
"I feel so amazing. This was always my dream, and today I made my dream come true," said Leonardo. "All of Indonesia is proud of this gold medal.”
US' Sam Watson took home bronze and set a world record in a time of 4.74 in the small final against Iran's Reza Alipour Shenazandifard.
The Paris 2024 will end on Sunday.
