TEHRAN, Iran (AA) - Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) published footage Friday of an Iranian surveillance drone tracking and filming a US aircraft carrier in the Strait of Hormuz.

The Iranian state television published the video that was taken a few days ago of the USS Theodore Roosevelt in the Strait of Hormuz.

It noted that the aircraft carrier could be downed by a cruise missile, and all escorting warships could also each be sunk with a missile.

According to the semi-official Mehr News Agency, the video was released shortly after celebrating the addition of 2,640 missile systems, drones and other equipment for the IRGC's warships.

The US deployed several warships in recent days to the Arabian Gulf, also known as the Persian Gulf, amid an anticipated Iranian retaliatory response to Israel for assassinating Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran on July 31.
