BAGHDAD (AA) – Iraq and Qatar on Monday called for a peaceful solution to crises in the Middle East region.
The call came in a phone call Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohamed Alhakim with his Qatari counterpart Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani.
Talks between the two diplomats dwelt on the latest developments in the region and the need to reach peaceful solutions to crises, the Iraqi Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Tension has been rising between the U.S. and Iran since Washington unilaterally withdrew from a 2015 nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers.
Last week, Washington sent a Patriot missile battery and a Navy amphibious transport dock ship to the Middle East in response to unspecified threats from Iran.
