Iraq reports over 4,700 more virus cases, 67 deaths

Death toll nears 9,300, total case count surpasses 372,200

BAGHDAD (AA) - Iraq reported over 4,700 new infections and 67 more deaths from coronavirus on Friday.

The nationwide death toll now stands at 9,298, according to the Health Ministry.

A total of 4,785 more infections raised the overall case count to 372,259, while the number of recoveries reached 299,804, the ministry said.

The COVID-19 pandemic has claimed more than one million lives in 188 countries and regions since originating in China last December.

The US, India and Brazil are currently the worst-hit countries.

More than 34.3 million cases have been reported worldwide, while nearly 23.9 million patients have recovered, according to figures compiled by the US’ Johns Hopkins University.
