ANKARA (AA) – Local health authorities in Iraq and Saudi Arabia confirmed additional fatalities from the novel coronavirus on Wednesday.
The Iraqi Health Ministry said 87 patients had died from COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, pushing the nationwide death toll to 3,432.
A further 2,110 new cases were recorded, raising the overall count to 83,867, while recoveries stood at 52,612, a ministry statement said.
In Saudi Arabia, the Health Ministry registered 42 deaths and 2,671 fresh infections, bringing the kingdom’s tally to 240,474, including 2,325 deaths, and 183,048 recoveries.
The pandemic has killed nearly 580,000 people worldwide, with more than 13.35 million confirmed cases, according to figures compiled by the US' Johns Hopkins University.
The number of recoveries from the pandemic across the globe neared 7.4 million early Wednesday.
