BAGHDAD (AA) – Counter-terrorism is the main ground in bilateral relations between Iraq and Turkey, Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali al-Hakim said on Sunday.
Speaking at a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu in the capital Baghdad, al-Hakim said aspects of relations between Iraq and Turkey, particularly counter-terrorism, were the focus on his talks with the top Turkish diplomat.
Al-Hakim decried any terror campaign launched from the Iraqi territory against Turkey.
He said Iraq would be pleased by a visit by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Erdogan is scheduled to visit Iraq by the end of this year to attend the 4th High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council meeting.
