MOSUL, Iraq (AA) – The Iraqi prime minister has approved the resignation of Mosul governor, state-run media said on Sunday.
According to the Iraqi News Agency, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani's media office announced the approval of the request by Mosul Governor Najim Abdullah al-Juboori to resign.
Sudani thanked Juboori, who “served in the best way during his tenure,” said a statement by the media office.
The Iraqi parliament rejected the recommendation of the Council of Ministers on Oct. 17 to prevent the Mosul governor from being included in the investigation, and Juboori later submitted his resignation.
