ERBIL, Iraq (AA) – The Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) in Iraq announced Monday that its security units had arrested members of a group affiliated with the PKK terrorist organization ahead of a planned attack.
According to the anti-terror units of the KRG, the terrorists were planning to carry out rocket attacks on Peshmerga forces, public areas, state buildings and dams.
The Security Council of the KRG announced on April 26 that a “dangerous plot” aimed at the region was neutralized and that security forces had confiscated a large number of explosives.
In its more than 35-year terror campaign against Turkiye, the PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkiye, the US and the European Union – has been responsible for the deaths of over 40,000 people, including women, children and infants. The YPG is the PKK's Syrian offshoot.
