ERBIL, Iraq (AA) - Iraq’s Kurdish Region Government (KRG) said that it thwarted a drone attack on the US-led anti-ISIS/Daesh coalition base in the city of Erbil.

Three bomb-laden unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) targeting the US-led anti-ISIS coalition base near Erbil International Airport in the city of Erbil, Iraq, were shot down at 5.05 a.m. local time (0205GMT) early Tuesday, the counterterrorism unit of KRG said on Facebook.

Earlier, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it fired a barrage of ballistic missiles at positions of "terrorist groups" in Syria and Iraq.

The IRGC also claimed that it "destroyed" an Israeli spy agency Mossad's headquarters in northern Iraq.

The Iraqi government condemned the Iranian attack, calling it an “act of aggression” and a “violation of its sovereignty.”

KRG said that allegations of IRGC cited as reasons for attacks in Erbil city are "baseless."
