BAGHDAD, Iraq (AA) - Iraq said Saturday that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani was invited to visit Tehran for talks with Iranian officials.
A government statement said al-Sudani received an invitation from Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to visit Iran during his meeting in Baghdad with Iranian Ambassador Mohamed Kadhim al-Sadiq.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed bilateral ties and a number of economic, investment and security files, the statement said.
According to the statement, the two sides underlined the importance of continuing their meetings to ensure the interests of both countries.
Al-Sudani was named Iraq’s prime minister last month by the Coordination Framework, a coalition of Shia groups close to Iran.
