BAGHDAD (AA) – Iraq’s Federal Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that provincial council elections will be held in Kirkuk on Dec. 18 as scheduled.

The court held a session to discuss lawsuits seeking the postponement of the polls.

According to an Anadolu reporter, the court rejected the lawsuits and ruled to hold the elections on Dec. 18 as planned.

Next week’s polls will be held for the first time since 2013.
