Israel actively, deliberately undermining UN institutions: Slovenia

Tel Aviv committing genocide in Gaza, reiterates Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon

ATHENS (AA) – Israel is actively and deliberately undermining the UN institutions, noted Slovenian Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon on Monday.

Stressing that Slovenia has been one of the most vocal supporters of Palestinians, as proved by its recognition of Palestine as a state, and calling for sanctions on Israel for its illegal occupation in Palestine, attacks on Lebanon and the warfare in Gaza, Tanja Fajon remarked the only solution is the creation of an independent Palestinian state, which would include the West Bank and Gaza with its capital East Jerusalem.

“I warn my international colleagues, if we are talking about a two-state solution, as dictated by numerous UN resolutions, they should recognize the Palestinian state as Slovenia did,” she said in an interview with public broadcaster RTVSLO.

Reiterating that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza, Fajon maintained that Israel has strong allies which provide it military and diplomatic support. However, the country under Netanyahu administration is being isolated globally, she added.

“What we are witnessing in Gaza today, as I have said many times, are gross violations of international law and the founding charter of the UN,” she said, adding that Israel is using hunger as a tool of war against civilian population in Gaza.

Israel has continued a devastating offensive on Gaza since October last year despite a UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate cease-fire.

More than 43,600 people have since been killed, mostly women and children, and nearly 103,000 others injured, according to local health authorities.

Israel faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its deadly war on Gaza.
