Israeli army says more than 200 drones, missiles were launched at Israel

JERUSALEM (AA) - The Israeli army said Sunday that one of its military bases sustained damage from an Iranian attack.

Army's spokesperson Daniel Hagari said more than 200 drones and missiles were launched from Iran at Israel and a military base sustained slight damage in the attack.

Hagari claimed that most of the drones and missiles were intercepted and shot down by the air force before reaching their targets.

He added that dozens of warplanes are deployed to intercept the air threats.

The army's Home Front Command announced the end of the Iranian attack and that the need to stay in shelters across Israel was no longer necessary.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed the launch of dozens of drones and missiles toward Israel.

The IRGC said the attack was in response to "numerous crimes" by Israel, including last week’s attack on the consular section of the Iranian Embassy in Damascus.

The Israeli army said its forces are on high alert following the Iranian attack.

At least 13 people were killed in a missile attack on the Iranian Consulate in Damascus on April 1, including seven military advisers.

Tehran blamed Israel for the attack.
