JERUSALEM (AA) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday said Israel will be a "central junction" in a major economic corridor linking together Europe, the Middle East and India.
"Israel is at the focus of an unprecedented international project that will link infrastructure from Asia to Europe," Netanyahu said in a recorded video statement.
He said Israel's infrastructure of railways and ports "will open a new gateway from India, through the Middle East, to Europe, and back."
"This link will also realize a multi-year vision that will change the face of the Middle East, and Israel, and will affect the entire world," Netanyahu added.
At the G-20 leaders' summit in India, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the EU and seven countries to build an economic corridor linking Europe with the Middle East and India via rail and shipping lines.
The Israeli premier described the project as the biggest in the history of Israel.
"I would like to thank US President Biden and his administration for the major effort that has led us to today's historic announcement,” Netanyahu said.
