RAMALLAH, Palestine (AA) - The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate (PJS) on Tuesday said Israeli forces detained another three Palestinian journalists in the occupied West Bank, taking the number of correspondents in the territory held since Oct. 7 to 24.

The move took the total number of journalists held in Israeli jails to 39, the PJS said in a statement.

Tensions have been running high across the West Bank since fighting between Israel and Palestinian group Hamas broke out after the latter's surprise cross border offensive. At least 163 Palestinians have been killed and 2,250 others injured by the Israeli forces in the territory since then, according to officials.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces also detained another 65 Palestinians in the West Bank, bringing the total arrests of Palestinians in the last one month to 2,215, according to the Palestinian Prisoners Society.

Prior to the latest conflict, the number of Palestinians detained in Israeli jails was around 5,200, most of whom were held with no charge or trial.
