JERUSALEM (AA) — Israel is in discussions with the US on allowing humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip in exchange for the release of several captives held by Palestinian group Hamas, an Israeli official said on Thursday.

This was reported by the Israeli Broadcasting Authority, citing an unnamed official.

Israel has prevented the entry of fuel and electricity into Gaza, while it has severely restricted the entry of water, food, and medicine since the start of the current ongoing conflict on Oct. 7.
