JERUSALEM (AA) – Israel registered 5,523 infections from the coronavirus outbreak on Wednesday.
In a statement, the Health Ministry said the country’s tally rose to 166,794 confirmed cases, including 1,147 deaths, and 122,785 recoveries.
The ministry said 535 patients remain in critical condition, while 138 others are on respirators.
Israel witnesses a significant increase in the daily number of virus cases.
On Sunday, the Israeli government approved a lockdown, to take effect on Friday and lasts for three weeks, in an attempt to stem the spread of the pandemic.
