JERUSALEM (AA) - Israel's army reported that 130 rockets had been fired from Lebanon into northern Israel on Wednesday, including 10 within the past hour toward the Upper Galilee region.

Citing the country's military, broadcaster Channel 12 said 10 rockets had been fired at the Upper Galilee in the past hour. The army also said it detected 130 rocket launches from Lebanon targeting the Galilee area since the morning.

Israel’s Home Front Command said sirens blared in the northern settlements of Kiryat Shmona, Kfar Giladi, Shtula, Misgav Am, and Tel Hai, located in the northernmost part of Upper Galilee.

In a related development, Israel’s emergency medical service, Magen David Adom, said a man was seriously injured by shrapnel from an interceptor missile in the western Galilee city of Nahariya. The organization reported that he had suffered a head injury.

The Western and Upper Galilee regions have experienced continuous rocket fire since Wednesday morning, forcing tens of thousands of Israelis into bomb shelters.

The attacks occurred as Israelis marked the final day of the Jewish holiday of Sukkot, which runs on Oct. 16-23.

Israel has mounted a massive air campaign in Lebanon since last month against what it claims are Hezbollah targets in an escalation from a year of cross-border warfare between Israel and the group since the start of Israel’s brutal offensive on Gaza.

At least 2,546 people have been killed and more than 11,860 injured in Israeli attacks since October last year, according to Lebanese health authorities.

Israel expanded the conflict on Oct. 1 this year by launching a ground assault into southern Lebanon.
