JERUSALEM (AA) - The Israeli army announced that an exchange of fire occurred with Egyptian forces on Monday at the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and the Gaza Strip.
“A few hours ago, there was a shooting incident on the Egyptian border, the (incident) is under investigation. Dialogue is taking place with the Egyptian side,” the army said in a statement.
The Israeli public broadcaster KAN said that an Egyptian soldier was killed in the shooting incident.
No injuries were reported among Israeli soldiers.
The Israeli Channel 12, for its part, described the shooting incident as “unusual.”
There was no comment from the Egyptian authorities on the report.
