JERUSALEM (AA) – Israel on Monday said it shot down an “unidentified aircraft” over the southern part of the Gaza Strip.
An Israeli army statement said the aircraft was detected and downed by air force units before it could enter Israeli airspace.
An Anadolu correspondent in Gaza reported that there was an explosion in the sky after Israeli fighter jets flew over the city of Rafah.
Palestinian groups in Gaza have yet to comment on the incident.
