JERUSALEM (AA) — The Israeli army said Monday it struck military posts in southwestern Syria after the launch of rockets.
A military statement said the strikes targeted rocket launchers, which were the source of rockets fired towards Israeli territory.
Syria's state news agency SANA, citing a military source, said the airstrikes targeted two military posts in Deraa province, resulting in “some material losses.”
Tensions escalated across the region amid relentless Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip following a cross-border attack by Palestinian group Hamas into Israeli territory on Oct. 7.
Israel has occupied the Syrian area of the Golan Heights since 1967.
