JERUSALEM (AA) – Israel called on its citizens on Wednesday to leave Sri Lanka immediately following warnings of an “imminent threat.”
According to the Israeli public broadcaster KAN, Israel’s National Security Council advised Israelis in Arugam Bay in Sri Lanka and beaches south and west of the country “to leave immediately after receiving new information about an imminent threat.”
The council confirmed in a statement that the threat level in these areas “has been raised to level four.”
KAN, however, did not specify the source of the threat
Arugam Bay is a popular spot for surfers coming to Sri Lanka, including many Israelis.
