GAZA CITY, Palestine (AA) - Israeli airstrikes Wednesday targeting two homes in Gaza killed 11 Palestinians, including women and children.
Three Palestinians were killed and 10 injured, including children, in an Israeli airstrike on a home belonging to the Al-Zaytounya family in Gaza City, medical sources at Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital told Anadolu.
Eight more Palestinians were killed and others injured in an Israeli airstrike targeting a home in the town of Jabalia, north of Gaza, a medical source told Anadolu.
Eyewitnesses told Anadolu that the strike targeted the home of the Al-Najjar family, resulting in its destruction and significant damage to nearby homes.
Mahmoud Basal, the spokesperson for Gaza's Civil Defense agency, said in an audio recording to journalists that the Israeli army committed "two massacres" by bombing the homes in Gaza City and northern Gaza, destroying them.
He noted that there are Palestinians trapped under the rubble, including children.
Basal added that rescue teams are searching for survivors and working to retrieve the victims.
Israel launched a large-scale ground operation in northern Gaza on Oct. 5 to allegedly prevent the Palestinian group Hamas from regrouping. Palestinians, however, accuse Israel of seeking to occupy the area and forcibly displace its residents.
Since then, no sufficient humanitarian aid including food, medicine and fuel has been allowed into the area, leaving the remaining population on the verge of imminent famine.
The onslaught was the latest episode in a brutal Israeli war on the Gaza Strip that has killed more than 45,000 people, mostly women and children, since Oct. 7, 2023.
Last month, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on Gaza.
