Medical sources tell Anadolu that strike on al-Zahraa school in Gaza City killed 3 Palestinians

JERUSALEM (AA) - The Israeli army acknowledged Wednesday that it struck a school in Gaza City housing displaced Palestinians it said Hamas was using as a command-and-control center.

The military claimed that its air force conducted a “precise” attack on Hamas operatives who were allegedly using al-Zahraa School for planning and executing attacks against Israel.

Medical sources told Anadolu earlier that the strike resulted in the deaths of three Palestinians, with several wounded.

Witnesses told the Turkish news agency that the school, which housed thousands of displaced civilians in classrooms and makeshift tents, was targeted by Israeli airstrikes.

Despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire, the Israeli army has continued a devastating offensive on the Gaza Strip following a Hamas attack on Oct. 7, 2023.

Nearly 42,800 people, mostly women and children, have been killed, and more than 100,400 injured, according to local health authorities.

The onslaught has displaced nearly the entire population of Gaza, amid a blockade that has caused severe shortages of food, clean water and medicine.

Israel now faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its actions in Gaza.
