RAMALLAH, Palestine (AA) - The Israeli army on Monday burned one more home in the Jenin area amid ongoing military offensive in the northern occupied West Bank that was launched on Jan. 21.

Eyewitnesses told Anadolu that the Israeli army raided Silat al-Harithiya town, west of Jenin city and cordoned off a house.

The Israeli army detained three Palestinians from the house before setting it on fire, according to the witnesses.

Meanwhile, the Al-Quds Brigades of the Islamic Jihad resistance movement said its fighters detonated an explosive device against Israeli forces in Silat al-Harithiya, confirming a direct hit.

The Israeli army also expanded its military operation in the Nur Shams refugee camp in Tulkarem city, forcing several families to leave their homes in the camp, while the Israeli bulldozers embarked on demolishing more infrastructure facilities and buildings, witnesses said.

On Sunday, three Palestinians were killed in the Nur Shams refugee camp, the Health Ministry said in a statement.

The Israeli escalation follows a broader Israeli military offensive that began on Jan. 21 in Jenin and its refugee camp, as well as surrounding towns, killing at least 25 people, it added.

The army expanded its assault into Tulkarem on Jan. 27, killing eight more people. On Feb. 2, another assault was launched in the town of Tammun and the Far'a refugee camp in the city of Tubas.

The escalation follows a ceasefire and prisoner exchange deal in Gaza on Jan. 19 after more than 15 months of Israeli bombardment which has killed more than 48,100 Palestinians and devastated the enclave.

Since the war began on Oct. 7, 2023, Israeli forces and settlers have killed at least 910 Palestinians across the occupied West Bank, according to the Health Ministry.
