RAMALLAH, Palestine (AA) - The Israeli army detained 60 Palestinians on Tuesday from different areas across the occupied West Bank and occupied East Jerusalem.
The Palestinian Prisoners Society NGO said the new arrests bring the number of Palestinians detained by the Israeli forces since Oct. 7 to 1,740.
Before Oct. 7, the number of Palestinians detained in Israeli jails was around 5,200, including more than 1,000 held under the notorious administrative detention policy with no charge or trial.
Tensions have been high across the West Bank since the new fighting broke out earlier this month between Palestinian groups and Israel in Gaza.
Around 120 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces in the West Bank since Oct. 7 in addition to more than 2,000 injured, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
