RAMALLAH, Palestine (AA) - The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said Tuesday that the Israeli army detained a Palestinian from inside an ambulance while team were transferring him to a hospital.
The Red Crescent said the incident took place in Tulkarem in the northern the occupied West Bank, and Israeli forces are hindering the work of medical teams in Tulkarem.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian Health Ministry said Israeli forces stormed the Thabet Thabet Government Hospital in Tulkarem with dozens of tear gas canisters.
Dozens of Palestinians, including medical staff in the hospital, suffered asphyxiation.
The Israeli army has been carrying out a wide military operation in Tulkarem since late Monday which has left seven Palestinians dead and 12 injured.
Tensions have been high across the West Bank since fighting broke out Oct. 7 between Palestinian groups and Israel in Gaza.
At least 196 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces in the West Bank, in addition to more than 2,700 injured, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
