JERUSALEM (AA) - The Israeli army on Friday said that using an armed drone, it had killed a gunman inside Lebanese territory.
The Israeli army statement gave no further details of the incident or what the person was believed to be doing.
No group in Lebanon has so far commented on the incident.
In a separate statement, the Israeli army also said it struck several sites of the Lebanese Hezbollah group in southern Lebanon, saying the airstrikes were in response to rockets fired into northern Israel by groups operating from Lebanon.
Tensions have been escalating on the Israeli-Lebanese border since the launch by the Palestinian group Hamas of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood on Oct. 7 and Israel’s subsequent campaign of heavy airstrikes on the Gaza Strip.
Exchanges of fire between Hezbollah and the Israeli army have caused deaths and injuries on both sides.
