JERUSALEM (AA) - The Israeli public broadcaster KAN on Tuesday said the Israeli army had shot down a drone that was fired from Syria toward Israel.
KAN said an Israeli fighter jet intercepted a "suspicious aerial target" after entering Israeli airspace from Syria.
The interception mission was carried out over the Golan Heights, but no injuries or material damage were reported, KAN added.
No group has claimed responsibility for the incident.
The broadcaster also said the Galilee area in northern Israel came under a rocket attack from southern Lebanon, adding that the Israeli army responded with a series of attacks on military targets for the Hezbollah group.
The clashes since Oct. 8 on the Lebanese-Israeli border areas have left so far over 300 people killed on the Lebanese side, mostly fighters from the Hezbollah group, while on the Israeli side, nearly 20 Israelis, including at least 11 soldiers, have been killed.
Tension has flared along the border between Lebanon and Israel amid intermittent exchanges of fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah, in the deadliest clashes since the two sides fought a full-scale war in 2006.
The border tension came amid an Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip following a cross-border attack by Hamas on Oct. 7.
