RAMALLAH, Palestine (AA) - The Israeli army on Wednesday killed a Palestinian woman and detained 15 more Palestinians in various areas of the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.
In a statement, the Palestinian Health Ministry said Maymuna Harahesha, 20, was killed by the Israeli forces in northern Hebron city, southern the occupied West Bank.
The Israeli private Channel 12 alleged that the Palestinian woman was holding a knife, and attempted to stab an Israeli soldier.
The new arrests brought the number of Palestinians detained by the Israeli forces since Oct. 7 to 8,445, according to a joint statement from the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners Society.
The arrests mainly took place in occupied East Jerusalem, Hebron, Nablus, and Jenin, and included former prisoners in Israeli jails.
Tensions have been high across the occupied territory amid ongoing Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, which left nearly 34,200 people dead since a cross-border attack by Hamas on Oct. 7.
Nearly 490 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli army fire in the West Bank since then, according to the Health Ministry.
