RAMALLAH, Palestine (AA) – Israeli forces raided the northern West Bank city of Jenin and its refugee camp late Wednesday.

Israeli occupation forces accompanied by bulldozers stormed the city of Jenin from several directions and raided the camp, eyewitnesses told Anadolu.

They said alarms sounded in the camp while Israeli forces took to the rooftops of houses.

They noted that armed clashes also broke out between Israeli forces and Palestinian militants, with the sounds of explosions heard.

No official Palestinian sources have provided details about the raid or the accompanying clashes, including casualties or material losses.

Tensions have been running high across the West Bank since Israel launched a deadly military offensive against the Gaza Strip after a cross-border attack by the Palestinian group Hamas on Oct. 7 last year.

More than 456 Palestinians have since been killed and around 4,750 others injured by Israeli army fire in the occupied territory, according to the Health Ministry.

Israel stands accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which last week asked it to do more to prevent famine in Gaza, where nearly 33,000 people have been killed.
