GAZA CITY, Palestine (AA) – Israeli bulldozers are carrying out extensive digging operations on the grounds of Al-Shifa Hospital in the Gaza City, a medical source told Anadolu on Thursday.

“Tanks withdrew from the complex, but military bulldozers moved into the facility’s backyard garden and began to carry out digging operations there,” the source said.

He said the Israeli bulldozers had completely leveled all tents, structures and fences there.

“Israeli forces have imposed a complete siege around the hospital and are targeting anyone moving inside or outside the facility,” the source said.

The Israeli army raided Al-Shifa Hospital, the largest hospital in the Gaza Strip, early Wednesday.

As the Israeli assault on the Gaza Strip entered its 41st day, at least 11,500 Palestinians have been killed, including nearly 7,900 women and children, and over 29,800 others injured, according to the latest figures from Palestinian authorities.

Thousands of buildings, including hospitals, mosques and churches, have also been damaged or destroyed in Israel’s relentless air and ground attacks on the besieged enclave since last month.

The Israeli death toll, meanwhile, is around 1,200, according to official figures.
