RAMALLAH, Palestine (AA) – Israeli forces stormed the city of Jenin in the northern West Bank on Tuesday evening, besieged the Jenin camp, and clashed with Palestinians.
The army, accompanied by bulldozers, entered the city from several points, raided several neighborhoods, deployed snipers on the rooftops of several buildings, and imposed a siege on the Jenin camp, Palestinian news agency Wafa reported.
The army also arrested two young men from inside a vehicle, the agency added.
The broadcaster added that the military forces were stationed at the entrance of the emergency department in Jenin Hospital.
Military bulldozers also demolished several civilian properties.
Armed clashes took place between the Israeli army and Palestinians in the "Cinema Square" area in Jenin, eyewitnesses told an Anadolu correspondent.
Social media activists shared footage showing Israeli military vehicles and gunfire.
A man seriously injured by the occupation forces in the city of Hebron was taken to Al-Ahli Hospital, according to a statement by the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
Tensions have been high across the West Bank since fighting broke out on Oct. 7 between Palestinian groups and Israel in Gaza.
A total of 242 Palestinians have since been killed by Israeli forces in the West Bank in addition to more than 2,850 injured, according to the West Bank-based Palestinian Health Ministry.
