JERUSALEM (AA) - An Israeli soldier was killed and five other people were injured in a truck-ramming attack in the occupied West Bank on Thursday, according to Israeli media.
A Palestinian driver rammed his truck into a group of soldiers near a military checkpoint, west of Ramallah city, The Jerusalem Post newspaper reported.
One of the injured was in critical condition, the Israeli ambulance service Magen David Adom said.
Israeli Army Radio said the attacker was a 41-year-old Palestinian, who was later shot and injured at another Israeli checkpoint.
Tensions have been running high across the occupied West Bank in recent months amid repeated Israeli raids into Palestinian towns.
At least 35 Israelis have been killed in Palestinian attacks this year, the highest death toll since 2005, according to Israeli figures. More than 200 Palestinians have also been killed by Israeli fire during the same period, the Palestinian Health Ministry said.
