JERUSALEM (AA) – An Israeli soldier died from a fungal infection while fighting in the Gaza Strip, according to media reports Tuesday.
The soldier suffered severe injuries to his limbs after he became infected with a dangerous strain of the fungus, Israeli public broadcaster KAN reported.
Despite efforts at the Assuta Ashdod Medical Center, the soldier died from to his injuries.
Kan said doctors later found he had been infected with a fungus on the battlefield.
Israeli authorities have not made any statements confirming that the soldier’s death was a result of an infection.
