JERUSALEM (AA) – An Israeli team participates in the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge, according to Israel’s Yediot Aharonoth newspaper on Sunday.
The daily said the 5-member team – two drivers and three technicians - has received an official invitation from the supervisors of the competition to take part in the race, which began on Saturday.
There was no confirmation from authorities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Israel and the UAE have no diplomatic relations.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, however, has said that his country’s relations with some Arab countries are at their “best”.
The Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge is an international rally raid race held in Abu Dhabi since 1991.
