ATHENS (AA) - An Italian mastermind of a $21 billion oil smuggling ring was arrested in Athens, Greek weekly To Vima reported on Sunday.
The 47-year-old of Italian citizen, whose name was not revealed, was leading the organization involved in smuggling of petroleum products internationally.
The illegal network included oil tankers owners operating under legitimate shipping companies who obtained petroleum products from the ports in South America, and covertly transferred them to other ships in Asia.
