ANKARA (AA) - The Italian women's national volleyball team reached the 2021 CEV EuroVolley semifinals on Wednesday.
In Belgrade's Stark Arena, Italy beat Russia 3-0 with the sets of 25-20, 25-8, and 25-15 to proceed on their way in the tournament.
The Italians were dominant in the second set, winning it with a score of 25 against Russia's eight and encouraging the match's victors.
Italian opposite Paola Egonu scored 15 points to lead her team.
Elena Pietrini racked up 13 points for Italy.
Meanwhile, Russia were led by Arina Fedorovtseva as she scored seven points.
Italy will face the Netherlands in the semifinal on Friday, with that game also to be held at the Stark Arena.
Turkey are also among the semifinalists as they will play against Serbia or France on Friday.
