LONDON (AA) – Six police guards were injured while attempting to control overnight riots inside a prison in Turin, northern Italian, local media said on Friday.
Guards intervened and foiled riots that broke out Thursday and continued overnight in several pavilions of Turin prison, Italy's ANSA news agency reported, citing sources.
Moreover, two other guards were intoxicated from inhaling smoke after rioters set fire to mattresses and several other objects.
The report added that the prison guards are not in serious condition and have been discharged from the hospital after receiving treatment.
