ANKARA (AA) - Italian volleyball team Prosecco Doc Imoco Volley beat Turkey's Fenerbahce Opet 3-0 on Wednesday in a 2021 FIVB Women's Club World Championship opener.
Imoco Volley had a flawless performance in the match in Ankara, winning three sets 25-12, 25-23 and 25-23.
The Italian club's star Paola Egonu scored 22 points, including three serve points, and was the game’s high scorer.
Kathryn Plummer added 13 points for Imoco Volley.
Fenerbahce Opet were led by Arina Fedorovtseva as the Russian racked up 18 points.
Anna Lazareva added 12 points for Fenerbahce Opet.
Imoco Volley have three points to lead Pool A.
Earlier Wednesday, Brazilian club Minas won in straight sets against Kazakhstan's Altay in a Pool B match.
In the next fixture, Fenerbahce Opet will face Dentil Praia from Brazil on Thursday.
Both pools have three clubs each.
While the top two teams in the group stage will compete Saturday in the semifinals, the third-place game and the final will be held Sunday.
