ISTANBUL (AA) - Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce became the second-fastest female 100-meter sprinter in history with a 10.63 seconds run in the Jamaican capital of Kingston, World Athletics announced on Saturday.
"When the hard work finally pays off!! So much accomplished, yet so much more to go," she said on Twitter.
Fraser-Pryce's previous best time had been 10.7 seconds from 2012, a Jamaican record, which Elaine Thompson-Herah equaled in 2016, the sports body added.
American Olympic champion Florence Griffith Joyner still holds the quickest time with her world record of 10.49 seconds in 1988.
Fraser-Pryce, 34, won two Olympic golds and nine world gold medals so far.
