ISTANBUL (AA) - Unemployment in January was at 6.2% in the euro area, down from 6.5% in the same month last year, Eurostat said on Tuesday.
The rate was at 5.8% on the EU side, down from 6.1% in January 2024, Eurostat said.
Some 12.8 million people were unemployed in the EU as of January, including 10.65 million in the eurozone.
The highest unemployment rate was posted by Spain with 10.4%, and the lowest in Poland with 2.6%.
The youth unemployment rate was at 14.6% in the EU and 14.1% in the euro area.
The eurozone/euro area, or EA20, represents member states that use the bloc’s single currency, the euro, while the EU27 includes all member countries.
